Heatherslaw Corn Mill is the only place in Northumberland where you can experience the sight, sound and smell of a traditional mill and today you can tour the mill for free. You’ll learn how the power of water is harnessed in this centuries-old mill to grind wheat into flour, and get to speak to the miller. It’s a ‘hands on’ experience for children who can operate the hoist and grind their own flour. While you are here, why not purchase some freshly milled flour to make your own delicious bread at home?
The mill is joining in celebrations of our history and heritage taking place all across the country in September with today’s Heritage Open Day. It is open from 10:00 until 17:00 – last admission at 16:00.
