Heritage Open Day Free Talk at Lady Waterford Hall

Heritage Open Day Free Talk at Lady Waterford Hall

Step back in time with a visit to the Lady Waterford Hall. Discover why this Victorian ‘model’ village’s schoolroom is home to a series of astounding Pre-Raphaelite murals and hear the story of the ‘People in the Paintings’. There is no charge for this talk.

Originally commissioned by Louisa Anne, Marchioness of Waterford as a school for local children in 1860, she then spent 21 years completing her artistic masterpiece: the watercolour murals. These feature the faces of those who lived and worked on the Estate – the neighbours, tenants and children that Louisa knew and loved. Enjoy hearing the story of the people who feature in the murals told by the Ford & Etal Heritage Curator. The talk will last about 20 minutes.

Talks will take place today at 12:00
