The Famous Scarycrow Trail 2025

The Famous Scarycrow Trail 2025

The famous SCARYCROW TRAIL has been running for over 18 years and causes great excitement amongst visitors and locals.

There is no charge for the trail but, if you can, please give a donation for the trail map and score sheet, as all proceeds will be given to Cash For Kids Borders and North Northumberland.

Follow the trail of weird and wonderful ‘Scarycrows’ around the villages, awarding them scores as you go. Pick up a trail map and score sheet from one of the village shops or download HERE. Hand in the sheet at any of the same venues when you have finished the trail. We’ll add the totals together at the end of the week to determine the winning Scarycrow 2025! The decision is yours.

There are all kinds of fun things to do at Ford & Etal Estates this week. Visit the Haunted Apple Chapel in Etal or attend the Monster Market on 31st October at Etal Village Hall. Seasonal Storytelling will be available at The Bryneich Studio in Heatherslaw, go on a Monster Pot Hunt in Ford at Ravn Clay Pottery or attend a the Bonfire Night event at Cheviot Tap on 1st of November.

The Scarycrows are created by locals and local businesses and we are very grateful for their support and enthusiasm. Without their creativity and hard work there would be no event.

We respectfully ask visitors not to touch the Scarycrows.

Most of the Scarycrow Trail can be walked, but to see everything you might need to drive to one or two rather out of the way locations. There is no set route to follow, though the Trail Maps will help you locate everything there is to see. The Scarycrows are on display all the time, so you can come whenever suits you best, but they are best seen in the daytime.

Dogs are welcome at Ford & Etal Estates, so feel free to bring them along too. Everywhere is accessible to buggies and wheelchairs.

There is free parking in Etal, Heatherslaw and Ford and disabled parking in all three locations.
