Step back in time with a visit to the Lady Waterford Hall. Discover why this Victorian ‘model’ village’s schoolroom is home to a series of astounding  Pre-Raphaelite murals. Here you will learn of a woman ahead of her time, an unlikely romance and of a unique community brought to life in art.

There are no entrance charges for parties under 12 in number, but donations are welcome. Booking is not essential, but if you wish to do so in advance, please click the link below:

Originally commissioned by Louisa Anne, Marchioness of Waterford as a school for local children in 1860, she then spent 21 years completing her artistic masterpiece: the watercolour murals. These feature the faces of those who lived and worked on the Estate – the neighbours, tenants and children that Louisa knew and loved.

The original visitors’ book reveals that people from all over the world came to admire the murals – from the Queen of the Netherlands to William Holman-Hunt. Follow in the footsteps of royalty and celebrities and come to discover Louisa’s awe-inspiring achievements for yourself!

The Lady Waterford Hall also acts as the local village hall hosting annual events such as the Christmas markets.
