Cycling is an ideal way to experience the full beauty of the estate and the surrounding countryside. With quiet roads and off-road paths exploring Ford & Etal on bicycles is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Refreshments are available at various outlets in the villages on and near the Estates and, of course, there are number of attractions to visit in the area.
Cycle racks are in place on the Heatherslaw Mill site, at Ford Village Shop and at Lavender Tearooms in Etal.
Sustrans Route 68 (Berwick-upon-Tweed to Derby) runs through the estate and there is an option to follow an off-road path (hard surface) along the banks of the River Till, a lovely route which offers ample opportunities to view wildlife on the river.
If you don't have your own bicycles with you when you visit, why not hire a bike from Ford Village Cycle Hire? A range of good quality road/trail bikes along with helmets, bike locks and route maps are available (pre-booking recommended). Cycle routes are also available from Heatherslaw Visitor Centre.
