The Black Bull is the only thatched pub in Northumberland. Under new management for 2019, a programme of refurbishment has recently taken place along with building new relationships with local suppliers. The vision is to tightly integrate with local producers and create a hub for the community of Ford & Etal Estates as well as welcoming visitors from further afield. The new Chef, Stefano, has created a traditional menu with a Sardinian twist, using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients wherever possible.
Local produce on offer/used in our menu includes:
- Bread made from flour milled at Heatherslaw Cornmill, just a mile from the Black Bull
- Beer from the recently established Cheviot Brewery, situated on Ford & Etal Estates
- Goat's cheese from Blue House Goats in Lowick, just a few miles from Etal
- Sausages sourced from a local farmer
