Part-time Vacancy - Heatherslaw Cornmill - now filled

|||| |||| ||||

A unique and interesting opportunity for a part-time assistant miller has arisen at Heatherslaw Cornmill. The Mill is a working museum which still makes stoneground flour using traditional methods, supplying the adjoining gift shop and other local outlets with its flour and cereal products.

The position involves explaining the mill, its machinery and the basic milling process to visitors, ensuring their safety, answering their questions and performing minor routine checks and maintenance works at the start and end of the day. It covers one day a week with occasional additional days by arrangement to cover the miller if required. A second assistant miller is already employed on other days.

No previous experience is necessary as full training will be given, however the successful applicant will have good interpersonal skills and enjoy sharing knowledge with people of all ages. An interest in engineering, history and heritage would also be helpful, along with a reasonable level of physical fitness in order to be able to undertake the different aspects of the job.
