The makers of the programme say "Britain is a nation of crafters, and now more than ever we are seeing an explosion in the number of evening classes and craft workshops up and down the country. People are discovering the simple pleasure of learning a new skill and the enormous sense of pride and well-being as hidden talent, and latent creativity is unleashed." The first series featured a workshop on embroidering lamshades and on papercut art and involved a range of students, from complete beginners to experienced embroiderers. In both workshops, the students were completely absorbed by the process and both teachers gave 'how to' demonstrations that were easy to follow so that viewers could also try their hand at the demonstrated crafts.
Whilst filming takes place the Lady Waterford Hall will be closed to the general public - but look out for the programme on BBC4 next year!
