February Half Term

From February 15 11:00 am until 2:00 pm

Spring is slowly on its way and the countryside is starting to awaken.  During half-term week there are a number of options for you to enjoy, although not all attractions are open.  Here's a list of some things you might like to do around Ford & Etal:

All week:

  • Enjoy a stroll through the woods at Etal where the aconites and snowdrops are in full bloom.
  • Book to go horse-riding at Kimmerston Riding Stables - all ages and levels of experience catered for.
  • Visit Hay Farm Heavy Horse Centre (open Tuesdays-Sundays from 13th February) - meet the Clydesdale Horses and other rare breeds
  • Book a river adventure with Active 4 Seasons - 10% off weekday and 15% off weekend adventures throughout February!
  • Explore the countryside on foot following one of our walking routes, downloadable or available to pick up at Heatherslaw Visitor Centre.

13th -15th February:

  • Explore Heatherslaw Cornmill, a fascinating, fully operational watermill that mills a range of delicious flours from locally grown wheat.  Children can follow the mouse trail, take the Junior Miller Quiz and dress up as a Victorian in the miller's cottage - and Mum and Dad can join in too!

Lavender Tearooms, Handmade at Heatherslaw, Ford Shop , the Old Dairy in Ford , Cafe Maelmin, the Red Lion Inn and the Blue Bell are also open - see weblistings for times.
