September marks the annual Etal Show, one of the oldest small village shows in the county to be still thriving and flourishing, and nowadays so much more than a horticultural show. Known locally as just "The Show", it takes place every year on the first Sunday in September at Etal Showground, opposite the Tillside cricket pitch.
Gates open at 12 noon and the main marquee at 2pm. Here the entries in over 150 different competitive classes are exhibited - including vegetables, fruits, flowers, baking, jams and preserves, needlework, handicrafts, photography, dressed walking sticks and children's classes.
Out on the field there's a whole range of attractions, food and craft stalls and activities to enjoy. Full details to follow.
